Common Questions

How does QuakeSense know where I am?

QuakeSense uses your iPhone's location services to calculate your distance to nearby earthquakes. Your location is not stored on our servers β€” it's used only to personalise your alerts and event feed.

Will I get alerts for every earthquake?

Only if you want to. You set a magnitude threshold in the Alerts tab β€” so you only hear about quakes that are significant to you. Below-threshold events still appear in your feed.

Is QuakeSense free?

Yes. QuakeSense is completely free to download and use. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases.

Which regions does QuakeSense cover?

QuakeSense focuses on Australian earthquakes. Events are sourced from USGS and Geoscience Australia, and filtered to Australian territory.

How do I turn off notifications?

Open the app, go to Alerts, and toggle notifications off. You can also adjust your magnitude threshold or disable notifications entirely in your iPhone's Settings > Notifications > QuakeSense.
